The State of Our Union

Posted by Katie on Jul 18 2012 at 12:33 pm

…It’s official we are watching WAY too much of The West Wing ;)

Yesterday was the second anniversary of the gong show which was our wedding and was spent in a lawyers office, a hardware store and then out for dinner with my mom and dad. I suppose there are sexier ways to spend an anniversary but to us, it was just perfect.

Upon arriving home it finally hit me that we are essentially moving into a new home on Friday AND I hadn’t really started to pack!

Sure we have little piles of crazy in almost every room:

…And a few not-so-little piles of crazy for that matter:

But it occured to me that I actually had to take those piles and arrange them safely for transportation.

And so the sexy continued until we were satisfied we were semi-ready to hit the cottage in just 2 more sleeps!

THAT is an anniversary we will never forget ;)

In other news, a few of my readers made me giggle uncontrollably this morning when I was reading their comments.

Apparently my legs were all the rave when I posted a picture of me in my tennis attire on Saturday!

So you want to know the secret to toned legs do you?

Truthfully, I was cursed born with these massive, boyish legs that physically reject any sexy boot I’ve ever tried to put on :(

I don’t focus on toning my legs at all but I will say that running and yoga are likely very key contributors to the TONED massive boyishness ;)

I truly appreciate the compliments dear friends but let me tell you, I envy you and your slender little legs that go on forever(ahem Miss Janet I’m talking about you!!) more than you will ever know

I began my morning with a 5km run! It was one of those mornings in which I didn’t want to be constantly checking my pace and time so I left the Garmin at home and chased some pavement.

Breakfast was a bowl of multigrain cheerios, blubes, a cherry, a sprinkling of some granola I made last weekend AND a spoonful of All Natural SASKATOON jam!

One of my co-workers tried her hand at the All Natural Strawberry Jam but subbed saskatoons for strawberries and let me tell you, IT. IS. SUPERB! She gave me a jar on Monday and I can’t keep my spoons out of it!

Lunch was half of a veggie burger from supper last night, some garden leafy greens (thank you AC!) dressed with a splash of homemade greek dressing, some PEAS from our garden that absolutely rock my world and some cherries!

Now I’m off to finish the work day…Then we are getting groceries for the weekend, doing yardwork and I am making COTTAGE CAKE! More on that later!

Bye guys!

  2. Oh! Happy Anniversary!!!!

Packing is awful. But the unpacking is what really bums me out! Eck. Wish I could give y’all a hand! Hope good Alabama vibes will help though! :D

      Oh thanks!

Packing IS awful. What’s worse? Packing up and then finding out you can’t move out just yet, resulting in tripping over many rubber maids full of everything under the sun!

Thanks for the good Alabama vibes! We sure need them right now.

Can’t believe I missed your anniversary! Bad friend. Sounds like you had a nice date with your parents. Happy Belated Anniversary. (P.S. Thanks for the legs compliment. Too funny.) By the way, our 10 km walk today was the perfect start to the day.

Oh my gosh don’t be silly.

You are welcome for the compliment. I should start calling you legs ;)

Our morning walks always start my day perfectly!
