Bringing Scrunchy Back

Posted by Katie on Jun 01 2012 at 12:10 pm

One of my favorite things in life is grocery shopping.

…Let me clarify, one of my favorite things in life is grocery shopping when the supermarket is not busy AND when I’ve eaten something.  Thus my inner “Hulk,” also known as “Joe Pesci” is nowhere to be found

YESTERDAY after work I had the opportunity to go grocery shopping all by myself, which, doesn’t happen often in my world. Why you ask? That would be because if I mention the word “shopping to my husband he is waiting by the door faster than if you say the word “walk” to your dog! You think I’m exagerrating but the guy could give Flash Gordon a run for his money when that “S” word is spoken within earshot ;)

I digress. My first stop was Costco.

Folks, this is what happens when I go to Costco without Jefferson:

Earlier this week one of the guys in our office shared some cherries with me and from that moment on, that’s ALL I could think about. As a result, I spent $20 on two containers of cherries that will not likely see Sunday ;)

When I saw that container of blueberries which was the size of Jeff’s head (I say this because his melon is massive) and the raspberries I could not hold back. I’ve got many plans for these babies…You will find out WHY next week ;)

My next stop was Superstore.

Folks, THIS is what happens when I go to Superstore without Jefferson:

That my friends is an eight-pack of SCRUNCHIES. Oh man. Nowadays when I think of scrunchies all I think of if Sex and The City when Carrie and Berger are talking about his scrunchy remark in his book HOWEVER as a kid and throughout my adolescence I was the scrunchie QUEEN. Is this something to be proud of?

Abso-F*in-Lutely (If you watch Sex and the City you just smiled because you got the reference ;) )

Anyway I told my mom this morning that “I’m bringing the scrunchy back” and she was out of control in laughter. Apparently that’s ridiculous

In between snorts and wiping laughter tears away she told me that she used to MAKE my scrunchies when I was a kid! How awesome is that?

She also told me that when I was a little girl I would wear scrunchies as bracelets. That’s true love in it’s purest form.

And so is this ;)

Oh I’m bringing scrunchy back baby.

This morning I woke up, got my running gear on and headed out. It was a glorious morning to be outside!

Breakfast was 2 leftover Kamut pancakes (dubbed by Jeff as Aunt Jemima pancakes only made with GOOD stuff) topped with Bees Knees natural peanut butter, smooshed raspberries and 1/2 of a banana. If someone ever asks me what heaven tastes like, I’m just saying, this is it.

Lunch was “clean out the fridge because we have an amazing food weekend ahead of us!”

In other words a red pepper hummus, romaine, tomato and portobello mushroom sammich, corn on the cob and cherries!

Just look at all that hummus oozing through the thin bun!

That’s my favourite part of hummus thin buns sammiches if you must know ;)

Tonight is the last Globe Theatre night of the season! Miss Janet and I are going to Beer Brothers for dinner beforehand in true Janet and Katie fashion.

THEN I’m coming home and getting my BREAD preferment ready! Tomorrow is bread day!

Happy weekend lovelies.

Scrunch if you’ve got ‘em.

If I suddenly see a burst of scrunchys in the fashion world, I’ll know you are responsible! I love grainy pancakes…currently enjoying some banana quinoa ones myself. :)
