Something’s Gotta Give
…No I’m not talking about the movie with Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton, Keanu Reeves and Amanda Peet BUT it is definitely one of my all time favorite movies to watch in the summertime! Whenever I hear the song “La Vie En Rose” by Sir Louis Armstrong I swoon and long to watch it!
I digress!
What I AM talking about is finding a balance in my life when it comes to physical activity.
FACT: I absolutely LOVE going to back-to-back Zumba and Yoga classes on Monday and Tuesday nights at the YMCA. In fact I found it to be the perfect balance of fast paced and slow paced physical activity for me and my body.
FACT: I also enjoy running(5-10km will be my distances this year…No long runs for this gal!!)…Though, if you read my post yesterday, I’m not QUITE at that lovey dovey stage at the moment
But I will get there!
FACT: At this point (and it’s still early but I must be realistic) my body cannot withstand running, zumba and yoga in a short period of time. I tried it this week and let me tell you, I was just too sore to give everything I had to both yoga AND zumba….OK that’s not entirely true. I still gave it my everything but my everything was pathetic
Not to mention the fact that I love being outside, enjoying the smells of spring and summer (I know where all the Lilac bushes/trees are in my area!) and the nature that you just don’t get in a gym.
And considering I live in Saskatchewan where we get a mere 3 months of SOLID nice weather (if we are lucky) naturally I am going to want to be outside running…Or powerwalking with my bestie Janet!
Just as a completely unrelated sidenote, whenever I hear the word “bestie” being used it makes me giggle and think of Amy Farafowler from The Big Bang Theory. She’s a hoot!
Again I digress.
All of that being said, I’ve come to the realization that something’s gotta give.
Some weeks, I will be able to attend my back-to-back features (the weather can’t ALWAYS be nice!) but others, I am just going to have to pick one class a night. Luckily I will still be attending 3 yoga classes per week but Zumba will sadly only be 1 or 2 classes per week!
The average person might think I’m a bit bonkers for attending back to back classes in the first place but I really do LOVE it. I’d even go so far as to say that there really is nothing else I’d rather do during those times(during the fall and winter that is)! Crazy? Maybe. But that’s just me.
And so, as I welcome spring and summer with sore hips, calves and hamstrings (thank you running) I send my bittersweet regret to the awesome Zumba and Yoga class on Monday and Tuesday night that I will undoubtedly frequently miss.
Something’s gotta give.
This morning I woke up to the beautiful aroma of homemade maple baked beans stewing away in my crockpot. OH. MY. GODDESS.
I groggily stirred them, wiped my drool off the floor and got ready for a 3 mile Leslie Sansone DVD workout.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted to cut my workout short just so I could go EAT those maple beans! But I perservered and saw my workout through to the end.
Breakfast was…sadly NOT maple beans…But it WAS shredded wheat and bran with a banana, soy milk AND of course cinnamon. And so my love affair with cinnamon continues.
Knowing what my lunch was today, I was starving by 9:00 AM I kid you not
One of my favorite things to eat (comfort food!) is steamed broccoli with baked beans all mixed up. Strange? Maybe. But that’s just me.
On the side was a deliciously ripe mango!
Well now I am off to catch up on some blogs I’ve been neglecting…Then after work I am meeting Miss Janet for a chilly and windy 10km walk followed by Spaghetti and Turkey meatballs made my my hubster! How spoiled am I??? A walk with a bestie AND supper being made for me!
Happy Thursday my dear friends!
Have YOU ever had to give something up that you absolutely love?

To answer your question…yes! Right now! Read my post tomorrow to find out what!….How’s that for a hook?
OoOoO I’m intrigued my dear sister friend! I will tune in for sure!
