You Spin Me Right Round Baby

Posted by Katie on Nov 13 2011 at 03:15 pm

Sunday already.

This weekend FLEW by but you know what?  It was absolutely perfect.

Last night Jeff and I watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes (which ROCKED!) and The Family Stone (which, in my opinion, did not rock at all but I won’t go there ;) )

Then this morning we woke up and went to the gym!   But before that, breakfast was had!

Big shocker here!  Toasted sprouted whole grain bread, homemade pb, honey, banana and cinnamon sprinkle dinkles!

I took in a SPIN class (yes you read that right) and Jeff played on the treadmill.

Today’s spin class kicked bum cheeks!  Why?  Different instructor? Yes.  Music that wasn’t Metallica and AC/DC? You betcha!

Don’t get me wrong, the class was absolutely gruelling and I was beyond disgustingly sweaty by the end but I was pumped!  I need to buy some black workout clothes.  I’m a very heavy sweater and when I wear a purple or green shirt, there are some pretty crazy stains going on by the end of the hour   Some of the patterns could be mistaken for abstract art ;)

As soon as I got home I gobbled down 2 of these babies!

What is it about a Christmas orange that looks, smells and tastes like Christmas?  They bring me more joy than I can describe!

After my christmas orange gobble-age I spent 3 NON-STOP hours in the kitchen while listening to Michael Buble Christmas on my iPod (to drown out Jeff’s yelling at the 500 NFL games being watched at the same time…You think I’m kidding…Well I’m not ;) )

Being prepared for the busy week ahead is absolutely KEY to making healthy choices.  I really do believe that!

First I prepped our lunches and made sure we had vegetables ready to go for quick “I need to eat something NOW or so help me” snacks.

Then I prepped our turkey meatballs (for Thursday spaghetti and meatballs!) and got them ready to be frozen!  That way I can pull them out on Thursday morning, they thaw while I am at work and they are ready to be baked when I get home!

Then I threw together a quick crockpot vegetarian chili packed with chickpeas, maple baked beans, romano beans, butternut squash, zucchini, celery, tomatoes, mushrooms and Epicure spices!  My favourite part of chili?  Mushrooms.  Lots and lots of mushrooms!!!

Then I made the most amazing hummus on the face of the earth.  Sweet Potato!  Recipe to come!

And finally I made “bm bullet” bran muffins!  I haven’t made them for the past 2 weeks and I really miss them!

Look at the 90% dark chocolate just OOZE out!

At about 2:00pm I realized I completely skipped lunch due to my mad kitchen adventures so I ate 2 more of these babies!

And when the muffins cooled completely I enjoyed one!

Well now I must go make Sloppy Joes for suppah!

I am looking forward to another fantastic week filled with evening fitness classes!  Monday is yoga, Tuesday is zumba, Wednesday is spin (MAYBE!) and Thursday is yoga!

What are YOU looking forward to this week??

I love doing advance kitchen prep work on the weekend…way to go! I’m with you on the clementine love…they are great in a certain pomegranate clementine and cranberry compote recipe I know ;) …also great to prep ahead of time. I think you should spin on Wednesday ’cause I am (at my gym you have to sign up in advance), so then we will have that in common! I’m looking forward to trying some new things diet-wise (see tomorrow’s post) and continuing to gradually pull up Christmas stuff from the basement. :)

    • It just makes so much sense to do it on the weekend! It makes life during the week SO much easier!

I am not spinning tonight…The thought of attending another mosh pit spin session doesn’t thrill me…But I’m catching a yoga class tomorrow night though! That’s pretty uncharacteristic of me!

I can’t wait to see the Christmas doodles!
