Do you know the brutal yet amazing feeling that comes along with doing an exercise that your body is not used to doing?
For me, that was crunches with an ab roller while at my in-laws this past weekend. After I ran and power walked on the treadmill I finished my routine off with some crunches and let me tell you, I felt the burn! I was only slightly sore afterward which led me to believe I was in for a wild ride today and tomorrow…The second day after the workout is always the worst for me!
I’ve resorted to the fact that I was just not born with abdominal muscles I tell myself that I was given more than my fair share of calf muscles in place of my lack of abdominal muscles and I was at peace with that Though some days I would kill to be able to wear a pair of Pretty Woman hooker boots
Well my sweet readers I’m happy to report to you today that I actually DID come with abdominal muscles! In fact every time I get up from my chair or even sneeze I am reminded of it.
Last night while sleeping, every time I had to roll I would wake up and wince! I’ve never been punched in the stomach repeatedly (something to be thankful for I suppose) but I’m pretty sure this is what it feels like!
Needless to say, I got up from my desk only when absolutely necessary(and by necessary I mean to eat and pee) and I held in my sneezes at all costs…which leads me to believe I lost very valuable brain cells in the process
The song “Dare You to Move” has a whole new meaning for this chickadee now.
I woke up at 5:00 am this morning, attempted to get out of bed, winced in pain, imagined what it would feel like to workout, cringed in pain just at the thought and went back to bed for another glorious hour.
When I finally did convince myself to get out of bed I made myself a “to-go” breakfast and got ready for my first day back to work!
In the cup is a berry smoothie made up of frozen berries, banana, soy milk, Epicure’s gingerbread spice, agave nectar and more spinach than I ate all of last week…And almost more than could fit into my food processor! It was more delicious than I will ever be able to explain. I absolutely adored the gingerbread spice addition to this smoothie! And of course, knowing spinach is in there somewhere but not being able to taste it was like Christmas to me!
Oh and speaking of Christmas, it’s official! I’m in Christmas mode already! I made Jeff listen to Christmas music the entire drive up to his parents house and almost all of the drive home! Welcome to crazy town. Population me! He’s such a good sport about having a clinically insane wife. What a trooper!
And of course I also had a bran muffin that I made yesterday. Again, I will never be able to explain to you just how happy I am to be able to cook in my kitchen without tripping over 2x4’s, ladders and hammers…And let’s face it, food sure does taste better when it doesn’t taste like drywall dust! My mom will agree…I once fed her oatmeal that tasted more like drywall dust than oatmeal. Somehow she did not disown me after that. If it was my daughter who did that, she would have been dead to me
It was awesome to be back at work! I sure do love my job. I had a lot of catching up to do so lunch came quickly!
And speaking of lunch…
On the plate were tuna, cucumber and red pepper quinoa sushi rolls with some cucs, red pepper and apple slices on the side! This apple was hands down THE BEST apple I have ever eaten. Thank God I bought a 100 pound bag from Costco! OK it was a 5 pound bag but there is a gazillion apples in it
Enjoyed with some light reading…
No…I’m not becoming a vegetarian. I didn’t study at all last week so I am getting it in on my lunch breaks! Remember I am studying Vegetarian Nutrition these days?
Well now I am off to conjure up some supper and then watch Parenthood! I’m finally caught up on the show so I can watch the new episodes as they come out! With my luck they will cancel the show now
What is one NEW exercise you’ve done lately?
