Mama I Love You

Posted by Katie on May 08 2011 at 12:12 am

I am more than a little ashamed to be using a SPICE GIRLS lyric as my post title but the words…they’s be true folks!

Today’s post is dedicated to my amazing, strong, determined mother(who is going to KILL me when she sees what I’ve posted! It’s been nice knowing you all ;) ).

Dear Mom,

First of all I love the glasses and Farrah Fawcett feathered bangs ;)

As a daughter I struggle to find a way to express my gratitude for everything you’ve done for me in my life. There’s really nothing I can possibly say that will ever be good enough but I’ll try to put something together here…Grab your kleenex…It could get ugly.

For making sure I always had a roof over my head, was well fed and bathed..I thank you.

PS yes that is naked in the sink Katie.  I looked like a boy for the first 3 years of my life.

Fun Fact about Katie: My mom used to put bows (that you stick to the top of presents) on my head until I was 4 years old ( I think) because I didn’t have enough hair to clip a barrette to.

For not exposing me to creepy clown halloween costumes as a child(though I didn’t look thrilled to be a bunny either)…I thank you.

For passing down your love for music (though my taste in music is far better than yours ;) ) I thank you.

For being the most beautiful bride (both times)…

And making me see that going against the grain and doing things according to your own standards instead of everyone else’s will make me happier when all is said and done…I thank you.

My mom and step dad got married at a spa IN the water.  How cool and unconventional is that?

For sharing my love for food and BROWNIE BADDER! I thank you.

For dropping everything to help Jeff and I renovate our house. I thank you.

Fun fact: The pants my mom is wearing in this photo are her maternity pants that she wore when carrying me in her belly.  Now she paints our house in them.  Crazy huh??

For giving me the tools and never ending support to lose 135 pounds and for motivating me to get active in my life.  I thank you.

For standing by me and supporting me even when I was making stupid choices in my life.  I thank you.

And finally, for teaching me never to settle for anything less than perfect for me.  I thank you.

Mom, our life hasn’t always been roses but you made the best out of every tough situation and to the best of your ability you made sure I was not affected.

The seconds, minutes, hours, days, months and years that brought us to this moment in time have defined who we are as individuals and I thank you for doing everything you’ve done to mould me into the person I am today.

You done well if I do say so myself ;)

I love you!

As mentioned at the restaurant yesterday, I gave you a jar of homemade granola, you don’t get an F-ing mothers day card ;)

Go tell your mom you love her!

See ya later!
